The Buachaille Etive Mòr (translation: “The Herdsman of Etive”) is generally known to climbers simply as The Buachaille. This mountain lies at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland. It is probably the most photographed peak in Scotland. When travelling towards Glen Coe the mountain takes on its characteristic pyramidal shape as seen from the A82. It also features in the James Bond film Skyfall.
I haven’t reached all of its four main peaks but hope to one day. The Buachaille is depicted in this piece of work, side on, from the A82. The Lagangarbh Hut seen in lower left of the work was once a crofting home but is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland. The drive through Glencoe is absolutely stunning and up there with the best drives in Scotland. If you have the opportunity, get out of the car and enjoy the towering summits of Glencoe.
