The Kylesku Bridge (gaelic: Drochaid a' Chaolais Chumhaing) spans the Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin. It’s distinctive curved shape is sympathetic to the surrounding landscape and sweeps gracefully across the peninsulas. I drove across it on my way to seek out Sandwood Bay, a remote beach in the far north-west reaches of Scotland and was immediately captivated by it. The mountain ‘Quinag’ can be seen in the distance with its characteristic peaks. It made an epic backdrop. I knew it would form a formidable composition.
Side note: The Kylesku Hotel, perched to the east of the bridge serves up the most amazing local seafood dishes, a must stop for anyone venturing into this remote area of Scotland.
